Lunch was fresh poached salmon, meat and cheese platter etc. The reasonably priced wake had a selection of tasty sandwiches, homemade sausage roll (a particular favourite), scones and cake (lemon drizzle and carrot cake) with tea and coffee. Well placed just 3 miles from N Wilts crematorium.
Stayed for one night. On Hotels.com web site stated restaurant and bar but be aware these are both closed on a Sunday. Rooms was nice. Clean and comfy. Fan was well battered so good job we had brought out own
Popped in on the off chance after the cinema. Had a delicious meal. We ate garlic mushrooms for starters which were absolutely delicious and then had liver and bacon and pork medallions for main. They were extremely flavoursome and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Could not manage a desert. We will definitely be back. 10/10.
This restaurant and venue is not as good as used to be. The menu barely changes and is very stodgy and wintery. The veg is over seasoned with a huge amount of pepper. The chicken is always overcooked so a bit chewy. It used to be the place to go, but with newer places opening it needs to move with the times and improve menu choice for food and wine as it quite basic now. The location is lovely but please make drop in drinks and nibbles and snacks a thing to work on as you would be a place to visit far more frequently. Time to move forwards Bolingbroke Arms, keep the charm but with far improved quality.
Very weird vegetarian option. Was supposed to be meat loaf slices but looked like a plate of mush in gravy. One half of a very crisp roast potato and one boiled potato. Nice selection of vegetables. The dessert of mixed berry pavlova was delicious however...
