One pub was overly busy, so we decided to check this one out when we found out they were still serving food mid afternoon. It is a family/dog friendly pub at the end of a small residential area. It was actually quiet in the pub I just assumed it was because it was late in the day. We later found out there was a large party gathering on the other side of the pub. We would never have known but it did explain why service was slow. The three young girl servers were all very pleasant but somewhat inexperienced. The manager is a lovely guy really came across like he really cares about his customers so that gave us a good impression. Both my mum I commented on how good the food was we both agreed that it was a very relaxed pub with the right ambience so we will definitely consider another visit here.
This pub is off the beaten track, meaning it isn't too busy. It serves high quality food, is dog friendly and has a lovely log burner. Friendly staff with a lovely rustic atmosphere
Excellent pub food. Nice people. Very helpful in terms of getting dairy-free food. Special diet available. Open fire place.
Called by the Dog Fox for dinner as we were in the area, and had a good meal. It was noisy in there and the food was adequate but not exciting, however a good time was had and it was a useful 'watering hole '.
After a busy couple of weeks we just needed to stop and recharge so treated ourselves to a nice lunch. The pub itself is welcoming and warm and was quite busy but that didn’t stop the service being great. We both had the garlic mushrooms to start and they were fantastic a real naughty treat with that rich creamy garlic sauce. For mains I had the pie which was packed full of meat (turkey and bacon) in an onion gravy served with chunky chips and seasonal veg that could not have tasted fresher. Also with a side of gravy. My other half had the vegan wellington with chunky chips and seasonal vegetables and again it was lovely. Both the pie and the wellington had wonderful light pastry too! We both wanted pudding but we were also silty stuffed so we will save that for another visit! Overall, lovely pub with fantastic service and absolutely quality home cooked food at a reasonable price!
