Dalton's Restaurant - Winnipeg

This restaurant was part of the Best Western Hotel near the airport. It was the only choice for us within walking distance, so we were really hoping it would at least be OK. It was. The food was quite good, there was enough of it, and the staff was friendly. We couldn't have asked for more.

Friends suggested we try Dalton's, it is a typical hotel restaurant, it wasn't very busy on our visit. It was clean and well lit, they serve a buffet, but we opted for dish on menu. I had the fish and chips which was very good, large portions and very tasty, the wife had Fettuccine alfredo w shrimp. ( 6.00 extra ). The service was fantastic, Ron. B was attentive, very friendly. All in all it was a good meal, price was good our bill was 47.74 after Show N Save coupon which took off 7.50 would eat here again if in the area

We were a party of four, and we each ordered a different meal. The star of the table was a very tasty maple syrup salmon, followed closely by the cod fish and chips. Our waiter was Ron and he took very good care of us. They also had a buffet available but we did not have it. overall a good atmosphere and meal.

Typical hotel cafe. You only eat there because it's inside the hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was very clean.

Daltons!I wrote a review for the hotel and one question was. Do they have a morning breakfeast buffet? I said no., oopsy! After reading the guest book in our room we did go to the buffet that morning! I only saw a Sunday buffet add on the outside sign so I had no idea they had it on everyday. We did not know anything about a discount coupon from the front desk for staying at the hotel! OR how to get the breakfast as a patron of the hotel. Read your guest book and ask questions. I read there was a buffet in our rooms "guest book".For other visits, we went to Cora's, at Polo Park Mall for breakfast, or Smittys a few short streets away. They both serve a good breakfast and are both close by. The original pancake house across from Pollo Park Mall, attached to the Clarion. The BUFFET:As a parton of the hotel and with proof from the front desk, it cost us 10 dollars each.Ok, it looked good. If you are in hurry to get to catch a plane or on the road you won't go hungry. There is a hot and cold section with tons of choices! This would be a great convenient option! Cold section: A few standard cereal choices, milk, and juice.Yogurt, Toppings like cranberrys and granola.2 types of cheese cubed.(I tried to add a few to cubes of cheese to my eggs, but the eggs were not hot enough to begin to melt the cheese...that was what I was going for.) Cottage cheese, Fruit such as:pineapple chunks, fresh strawberries, sliced canned pears, and more. (this I am sure must change with availability. Bananas would be nice).Muffins, (There were several types.) A couple of sweet pasteries.Bread, (there was a variety of to toast,) English Muffins, (to make a sandwich from the hot buffet if you like,) Peanut butter, jam, or honey. Hot Buffet section:Yummy HOT! thick porridge, I tried it, and it was good! You could add toppings from the cold section, and a bonus to me, was that they had brown sugar!Scrambled eggs, Pancakes, syrup, A big pan filled with BACON, A big pan filled of SAUSAGES.That was nice to see that the pans were filled.So what could go wrong? IT WAS NOT HOT ENOUGH. My eggs were more cool then warm, the pancakes couldn't melt the cold butter.Kids and others were gobbling them up though! I tried putting some hot, I mean HOT porridge on my pancakes to warm them up lol. Pancakes are not good when they are cold, and they are not good with porridge. I was trying to warm them and to melt the butter. I would only get the BUFFET again if I was flying out somewhere or hitting the road. But...A MICROWAVE WOULD FIX THIS! Microwaves are awesome on the buffet table. We have used this at breakfast bars before, and it makes all the difference.We could bring food up to the room to microwave, but that is not a convient option. The cold section was nice. It was suppose to be cold so no points off for that.Lots of options here! You will find something to eat. them. Can you get a microwave? Ůor 2?...mom's and babies would love it too. make us reasonable for using it....Let people verbally know about this buffet.
