Johnny's Farmhouse - Winston-Salem

This is our third time and we have never been disappointed! everything was cooked to perfection. we had lebern n tweepers, pigeons (fried and grilled) lachs, land fried steak..Fritted chicken (may use a little more flavor...but it was quite good)big pages...green beans, rice n gravur, collar...cornbread muffin is wonderful! oh and banana pudditi..yummy

Overall, eating was good. the mac and the cheese were a kind of bland and the fried squash was also. just not much taste. but the chicken, beef tips, brokkoli and cheese casserole was really good. the service was ok. the waitress was kind of scattered. but was really nice. we're coming back.

I've been to this place once. I'm not difficult to please, but there were some stark failures.1. Chicken and Dumplings with NO dumplings; not one.2. All white meat. Everyone knows the flavor is in dark meat.3. Tall cup; short straw.4. Stems in the collards.5. Sugar in the cornbread.I feel it's unfair to rate it less because I've only tried this one dish. Other things might be good. I'll never know.Service was mediocre. Our server was kind, but not exactly johnny-on-the-spot.They did comp us the Chicken and Dumplings.

Goodbye Cracker Barrel. I have a new favorite comfort food restaurant! Food was excellent! I had the Saturday Night Special Pot Roast and it tasted just like mom's. The pintos were absolutely the best I have ever had. I would have been happy with a Big Bowl as a meal. The biscuits were excellent too. The only 4 star item for me was the corn bread. Don't get me wrong, it was great, however it was sweet. I prefer cornbread without sugar. Just my personal preference. We will definitely be back.

Went this evening and it was rough from start to finish. They have issues to work out with timing and service but that is not the reason for the low rating.My wife and I both got the fried chicken and the breasts were so dry that they were inedible. Nothing was seasoned. The mac and cheese was another let down, tasted like velveeta. Yeah We got the blooming onion as an app and it was by far the best thing we got. It did come out at the same time as the rest of our food.If you do decide to give this place a try, I would give them some time to work things out.
