Peggy, Chris and the staff always take care of their guests. With only 10 tables, it is like being invited over to a friend's home. But, the food is the star attraction from the moment you settle into your table all the way through dessert.
The menu is limited to the very best of options. Escalopes of veal is my go-to, with mashed potatoes that put my mother's to shame. The Caesar dressing is made to order on a side-table in a wooden bowl. The owner pestles (yes, it's a verb, too) the anchovies and whisks the yolk to perfection. Classic french food and service. This is a little gem.
First time experience at this very quaint and charming restaurant...was thrilled to have such a lovely visit as I was taking my two best friends out to celebrate their birthdays. Service was impeccable and food was beyond scrumptious...what a find...will definitely return. Many thanks to all of you for making last night so memorable, Cheri.
I thought Brandywine was a really great restaurant. I had read all of the reviews and it met my expectations based on what I had read from most of the 4 and 5 star reviews. I made a reservation the day before i left a message and received a call back from Chris a few hours later. When I arrived I was seated in a booth and immediately was able to order a drink while I waited. I thought that all of the staff were very attentive and helpful and were there immediately when you needed anything. Chris came by to thank us for coming to his restaurant and talked to us about the appetizers first. Then he went over the specials and then the regular menu. My impression was that the food was more like the food I had when I was in southern france vs paris. The food is heavy but very delicious. The sauces are amazing but were laden with butter. For me the food was authentic french based on the areas I visited in and around Toulouse and on my way from Toulouse to Chamonix. Anyway we both stared with the softshell crab appetizer. Wonderful, lightly fried with butter and a hint of lemon and capers. My friend had the sweetbreads and I ordered the abolone special. I have never had sweetbreads but they were delicious. Tender and with a wonderful sauce. My abalone was also very tender and great. Each meal came with a side veg. I think for a wonderful night out this is a great restaurant, it's a fun experience, and has great food.
A very pleasant and intimate experience. 3 appetizers, 2 kir royales, 2 entrees, and 2 glasses of wine $200.00 on the button. The service was personal and incredibly knowledgeable. I loved it, though I can see how someone would say 'you either love it or hate it. ' I give it a top food and service rating because that 's what it deserves. The buffalo mozzarella was excellent as was the shrimp cocktail (homemade cocktail sauce) and fois gras.
