High quality authentic ingredients with a generous portion had the gnocchi with Bolognese sauce, also a sausage and pepper broccoli rabe hero very good with the fresh garlic seasoned to taste ?they are formally known as Scotty's pizza I will be back again ??
I’ve been coming here since the previous owner “Scottie’s “. Although it’s the not the original place, Midland on Kimball Pizzeria is just as good, the place may be a little pricey at times and depends on what you order, but it’s 100% worth it. I order usually pasta or pizza. And it’s definitely the best I’ve had. This is my #1 spot to go to for Italian food, I recommend this place to everyone.
Much to my chagrin I will not be ordering from Kimball Pizzeria. The food was quite good when they took over from Scotti's I regularly ordered from Scotti's and was happy that the quality remained the same. In fact, I enjoyed the food and service so much that I asked them to cater a luncheon for my church. The owner gave me a good price and the food was excellent. Several months ago I ordered an eggplant wrap. I did not like the flavor of the pimentos they used. No big deal, I don't have to like everything. Yesterday, I ordered a penne arrabiata with broccoli rabe and extra garlic. It tasted like it was prepared with jarred hot peppers, which made the dish just about inedible. It lacked the traditional tomato sauce, and extra garlic. There were a few artichokes that I assume also came from a jar. I immediately called and spoke with the owner who I dealt with before. He told me that's the way they make it and next time I should specify I want tomato sauce added. Hmm...not exactly the response I expected after being a loyal customer. To avoid wasting my money I added my own tomato sauce, white beans, and olives. Traditionally arrabiata has capers in it but I did not have any. I removed all the peppers from the penne, but the flavor still overpowered everything. I understand recipes vary from place to place, but it would have been helpful if there was a description on the menu. What bothered me most was the owner's attitude. He did not apologize, he told me that's the way they make it, and did not offer to send me something else. I have been a loyal customer since they took over. Granted I did not order for six months because I was keeping my expenses down but the owner's attitude was as disappointing as the dish I received.
WATCH MY FULL REVIEW ON YOUTUBE: FRANJEZ. The crust was my favorite part, it was thin crispy. The sauce wasn’t present, flavor and amount wise. The cheese was boring and light. The plain slice was better than the buffalo, Sunday Football type of pizza.
