A group of us wanted to grab a quick drink after enjoying brunch at Paramount.
A convenient place on Yonge Street in Thornhill to have a drink and some bar food. Friendly prompt service. Food was as expected - pub food neither good nor bad.
This pub location isn't considered Markham - it's in Thorn Hill near Clark and Yonge. We went because we found out they have karoke Thursday nights 9:30 - 1:00.We learned that they serve food till 1:00 a.m. - nice for late munchies. We arrived at about 9:15 and, after perusing the menu, decided on a "mountain" of nacho chips immersed in chili, tomato, lettuce, cheese. Sour cream comes on the side; we asked for the same with the onions - and hold the jalapenos. The chili was pretty spicy. All in all good. Portion was more than enough for two people and reasonably priced at $11.25. Bolla Pinot Grigio is served as the house white, either by the glass $ 7.25, or 500 ml @ $14.75, 1000 ml. etc. Good wine, reasonably priced. The karaoke DJ was good. The only problem was second hand smoke coming in via the front door, where there's a smoking patio. I eventually had to ask our server to close the door because my throat was getting sore. She quickly obliged. The pub is older, but the decor is homey and restrooms are clean. Service was good, attentive but not overbearing. Other than our encounter with the drunk at the next table who spilled his beer, we had a good time and would probably go back.
It is a dive bar off a main street. If you are not a regular you wont be treated so nicely but the regulars. The waitress try their best to accommodate you. The food is okay and they could use cold glasses for their pints of beers.
