The staff was very helpful, the restaurant was very clean and tidy. we had not booked and we were very late for lunch. but we were served a really nice meal by steak and home cooked chips and the starters were good and pudding was excellent.
There were only a few lunch spots in the opposite and decided to try this for a last minute late lunchtime if they were warned to start French lunch at 12 so they can find a late lunchtime has sold out a limited menu with some products. but its freshly cooked every day and the quality is really good. his busy and loud with all the local people and eating is excellent. we had sirloin steak, duck confit, cream brulee, coffee gourmand. fries were homemade and generous, drinks were cheap. just as expected inside easy but very clean. parking is the tiny track on the left side.
We traveled through France and needed a lunch break. this was found by travel advisers and it was right on our route (we have avoided the autobahn for a picturesque route). on the main road through a small village, blink and they missed. it, but clearly a hidden gem among the natives, when we arrived at a november Wednesday at 1:15 o'clock and had to wait for a table, it was full inside and outside! we waited only a few minutes (for they take unusually early into these sharing too afternoon) and when our desserts arrived, there were only a few tables still in use. a real mix of people: older groups, workers, business dinners, couples, singles were pretty all there! regarding the service is a typical French affair not terribly warm, but definitiw efficient and used to with a high number of covers. menu was plentiful and the eating was too large portions meant that we really did not decide for 3 courses! but eating was really good country kitchen, no air and grace, and exactly what we were looking for to fill our bells before the next one of our journey.
The last night of our holiday but what a find. They were fully booked and it was not surprising. But we were offered seats at the bar for which the chef personally apologised, but we were glad we accepted these. Our meal was beautifully cooked...and not pretentious. Our steaks were about the best we have ever had and we are well travelled. The gambas flambéed in brandy were delicious. The house red was very good. We rounded off our meal with a cafe gourmand. Super, and all cooked a la maison. Because we sat at the bar we could see other dishes going out the pass. These looked great too. Service was smooth and genteel. Really we couldn't fault it. Well worth a visit if you are in the Limousine, hungry and like value for money. The place isn't posh so you can relax, and it was full of locals which is always a good sign. Excellent.
