It seems odd to advertise your hours and then turn away customers well before closing time. We decided to go to Bongiovanni's on Old Hwy 80 instead, where the food was excellent and the service was outstanding! We won't be returning to Donato's. Meal type: Dinner.
I visited Donato’s for the first time after a long day, and it was a fantastic experience. We were seated promptly, and the food was fresh and delicious! We ordered the fried ravioli, house salad, rigatoni Donato’s, and the chicken parmigiana. I would definitely return if I'm ever in Alpine. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30.
We've been dining at Donato's for quite some time, and I've always considered their pizza to be among the best in San Diego County. However, that was until recently. The last two pizzas we've ordered were noticeably below their usual standards. I'm not sure what's changed to affect the quality of the food—maybe they've had a different chef, or possibly they're using substitute ingredients due to rising inflation. Whatever the reason, we're truly disappointed.
Came back after 10 year and Was not a fan! The sampler was definitely not fresh and can taste is was frozen prob from grocery store. The marinara that came with it had too much oregano or some spice added it to. The ranch tasted like cheap hidden valley or something. Pizza was okay but still now great! I won't be going out of my way to come here again. Wasn't restaurant quality.
The pizza was amazing, and the owners were very friendly. I’ll definitely be returning!
