So I was looking for a new place to try in Reading, PA for lunch and Chef Alans came up in my search. It wasnt bad. My burger was very tasty. The thick cut bacon did not let me down. It really complemented the burger rather than just become part of the burger. The french fries were not crunchy and over cooked. They were hot crispy and still held its fluffiness in the potato. One of the reviews that I saw talked about the coleslaw. So I made sure to try it. I was not impressed at all. When I asked for more dressing she told me that she makes it fresh. I will definitely say that it was fresh but it did not have the coleslaw taste. It 's literally tastes like eating raw cabbage. While it wasn 't my favorite I won 't order it again but everything else was filling. As always trying to find parking in Downtown Redding is not easy but there is a parking lot right next to it.It was a good try but it wasnt it for my taste. I would say that Chef Alans Restaurant did not stop on the portion sizes or the quality of food. You really did get fresh ingredients and a quality meal. Parking: Parking is on the street and in the lot next door. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp right in front.
Food was bad and the place inside looks very rundown. Looks like the place has not been touched up in 20+ years City was very crowded that night but place was empty. Felt like a restaurant that should be on Kitchen Nightmares.
The food was good and the one waitress we had was very nice, but it isn 't the place to go unless you are very simple and want to agree with whatever the people here say. My aunt had a glass thrown at her when she asked the bartender here to remake her drink because the seltzer wasn 't strong at all. The waitress who took our orders would not suggest any other options to people who wanted something they didn 't exactly have. She would just say, Well we don 't have that. She even refused to give our guest a single cup of ice at the first request until my father talked some sense into her. The drinks from the bar never came out right, there would always be something wrong with it. I 'd say you would have a better, cheaper experience at your local diners instead of coming over to here. Who knows, the food there might actually be better too from my experience at a diner in Exeter compared to here.
Used to work there way back. Left in December of 08. It was diner quality food back then. Looks like they've definitely upgraded. May have to try soon.
