We sat outside and it was late in the evening and large number of people arrived around the same time, so the service was a little slower than desirable but the waiter was very friendly and apologized for the slightly longer wait. It was a very positive experience.
This place is amazing. I've gone twice with friends and got to taste almost everything from the menu and each plate is savory, generous and well thought. Food pairs well with cocktails, my favorite is the mamajuana. I am puertorican and the mofongo satisfies my cravings for home food! Ambiance is laid back with great music and the staff is very attentive and friendly. Vuelvo pronto!
This was our second time going to alaMar and we tried new dishes along with our favorites from last time and it was still delicious. We came with our friends who are foodies and they loved everything as well. The snapper and mofongo were a little dry but the short ribs, oxtail, pernil were all fall-off-the-bone tender and absolutely delicious and we ordered a second order of maduros as our dessert . Looking forward to coming back again soon!
As a Half Dominican Half Puerto Roman man born and raised in NYC I have to say this place really reminded me of Washington heights. From the little Dominican flags to the cafe Bustelo cans it was great. Food was outstanding the shrimp was heat my girlfriend had sancocho and the Pernil took me back to the holidays
Food was amazing as always. Run don't walk and get some of the best shrimp appetizer in the Bay. I loved the whole snapper and the flavors took it to another level. I'll be back.
