The bar staff appeared surprised that we had not been given a pager. We decided to settle our tab at the bar before finally being seated at our table. Our server explained that the restaurant's policy was for customers to order and pay using an app, but she agreed to take our order upon our request due to our age and growing impatience. I ordered the asparagus appetizer and a roasted root vegetable salad, both of which were delicious. I was pleased to see that the menu included options for vegetarians, vegans, and those with gluten sensitivities. My husband opted for an assorted BBQ platter. The food arrived promptly and was very enjoyable. Overall, our experience was mixed. While we acknowledge that it can be challenging to hire enough staff, the employees at the restaurant seemed disorganized. We are unlikely to return, as we found sitting on high bar stools to be uncomfortable and it detracted from an otherwise pleasant meal.
I think Anheiser Busch is feeling the impact of the Bud Light boycott. The restaurant was almost empty when we visited, a stark contrast to how it used to be bustling with customers. Instead of waitresses, you have to use a QR code to place your order, which we had difficulties with. Luckily, a helpful man (who wasn't the manager) came to assist us just in time before we were ready to give up. Despite the initial challenges, the food was outstanding and we left satisfied. It's a shame because this place has the potential to succeed with its beautiful atmosphere and delicious dishes, but it might not survive for much longer.
I stopped by this restaurant for the first time on my way to dropping my child off at Nature Camp. The restaurant had a lovely outdoor seating area with multiple COVID precautions in place. They had a beverage stand outside where I could get drinks for the kids and something cold for myself. My husband went inside and ordered the fish and chips, pretzel, pulled pork, and buffalo wings. The fish and chips were outstanding, with flaky fish and a crispy batter. The pretzel was huge and came with mustard. The pulled pork was a sizable portion and came with a unique coleslaw and baked beans. The buffalo wings were well-cooked and came with coleslaw, ranch, celery, and a pickled vegetable, adding an interesting twist. Overall, it was a delightful surprise just outside of Wintergreen resort, south of Nellysford and Charlottesville. I would recommend stopping by if you're looking for a nice meal in the area.
Devi's Backbone Brewing has a great base with different places to enjoy your beers/wine/spirits and food. We visited 7/8/23 and I would specifically like to give a shout to John, he was our waiter during our visit and he did not disappoint. My mom got a cheeseburger with fries and I got a cheeseburger wrap, he was very helpful when we had difficulty with the Toast ordering and did everything the ole fashion way. He took his time and spoke with us about different things and honestly, I felt like I could have been friends with the guy. I love the cabin feeling with the wildlife decor at DB, it's place I imagine being stuck at during a snow storm with plenty of alcohol to entertain me. Be sure to check out their events page, as that is always full of fun things to attend.
Absolutely awful food and service from a greasy spoon staff not interested in human health and personal hygiene. Beers are no better than a home brew kit to boot!!
