Can’t wait to go back! This is the kind of small town, family owned and operated diner that made California great! Everything was tasty, fresh and a great value! They have a donut counter that you just can’t ignore. Plus, there’s tons of cool knickknacks to look at on the walls so you’re never board while you wait for your breakfast or eat. Somebody very creative has built a number of miniature models of homes and other buildings all made from tiny bits of wood. It’s really a cool spot!
Good local breakfast and lunch place. Open until 4 pm. Delightful couple run the place. Good prices. Been her forever third owners over the past twenty five years. Where the farmers eat breakfast in Salida.
Warning! deception!: Under new ownership. This place is totally unrelated to the old Salida Country Kitchen. It's a trick they are pulling on people by retaining the same name... First of all, the place was very messy and the salt and pepper shakers had lots of dirt all over the top of it, the back was full of boxes and it didn't feel clean. Second, the food was very tasteless and amateur. I got the Vietnamese chicken sandwich and it tasted like it had rotisserie chicken meat in it. It had the flavor of a rotisserie chicken from Foodmax and the chicken was very tough. My wife ordered the ham and cheese omelette. It was pretty much tasteless because although they used a good amount of cheese and ham but it tasted and looked like they just put the ham and eggs into the pan at the same time without browning the ham first. Because they have many things on the menu they are not making a lot of things from scratch. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have the name of Salida country kitchen which used to be a very delicious restaurant where everything was made expertly. They should change their name. When we came in and we expected the Salida country kitchen and it wasn't we felt like we were trapped so this restaurant is kind of like a trap. Be careful. If this restaurant was honest they would not use that name and they would not use the same Google reviews and Yelp account because the old owner's success has nothing to do with what they're doing now.The positive is that the owners were very nice and generous however in a creepy uncomfortable sort of way. Definitely never coming back here. The only good thing was the hash browns which tasted real crispy like they deep fried them. By the way, there is no more chicken fried steak challenge.
I only had coffee waiting for a rain ? shower to pass, I was on my Harley. The people were very friendly, all good. Thanks.
