It is used for transporting wood, shrimp, and occasionally residents of remote villages that lack road access. The area surrounding the channel, such as Barra de Jiote, is stunning with its mangroves that are home to a variety of bird species, especially in the early morning. Visitors must navigate through a series of waterways to reach beaches like Monterrico and the sandy shores along the Pacific coast. Traveling through the channel can be done by public boat for a small fee, but travelers may have to wait until the boat is filled before departing. Alternatively, one can pay extra to leave earlier or take a longer route via taxi and boat for a more scenic journey.
This morning meal is truly memorable!
