Cute cafe in Kamakura. Hidden in the backstreets, but seems to be very popular with young Japanese people. It's like a date spot. There is wa-shitsu style seating. Might be a great spot to visit during winter. We tried their curry, waffle set and purin set. There were not any vegetarian food options if I remember correctly. The way food is decorated on the plate was so artistic. It was like a sculpture arrangement. I was little disappointed though cuz we went there on a rain thunder day, and were soaked wet when we entered. I wished they offered to bring the heater closer to us because of how wet all our clothes were... But maybe that is not an expected kind of consideration in Japan. Hoping to go back on a nicer day some other time.
All I can say is WOW, I am sooo happy I came here today. Despite being very near a major tourist attraction, this delightful quaint little cafe was truly authentic and welcoming, not overcrowded or commercialised in the slightest. Although it is a bit hard to find, once you’re inside it feels like you’re being welcomed into a warm neighbour’s house. The rusty look with dry flowers and different ornaments just make this hidden gem so delightful. We were soaking up the atmosphere like sponges. I was too late for lunch so I got the cake set instead for ¥1,100 and my word, the cake was delicious and generously served with cream, ice cream and lots of yummy fruits. The coffee was in a beautiful cup as well. The kind staff were super welcoming and served with a smile the whole time. Background music of chilled lo fi beats was perfect as well. Absolute 5 stars from me despite fewer visitors to Kamakura, I hope this cafe survives covid and prospers
A traditional Japanese house turned into a very nice cozy cafe. There’s no major sign and it looks like a regular residence, you might miss the entrance. They offer lunch menus using locally grown vegetables and organic ingredients. The medicinal curry plate and Japanese Oden plate are both excellent choice. Reservation recommended.
Food is good and vegetarian so we thought it was a good place to come from time to time. But service was very bad We wanted to order a dish but they said it was sold out and the next (Japanese) couple that ordered it could get it. And the following customer also ordered that dish. When we asked about it the explanation was not clear. I am not sure what happened but we felt mistreated compared with the Japanese customers. Note: I live in Kamakura and understand Japanese pretty well. Reply: If I think my review affects foreign people, of course I have to write it in English. Anyways, my written Japanese is not so good, I will reply to you in English. Japanese customers could order something that was supposedly sold out just 3 minutes after we could not. It felt really strange. Mistakes happen but you did not try to fix it at the moment but waited until we complained. I change stars from 1 to 3 because I accept your apologies but still think the service was not good. I will not talk about Japan as country or other stores. I think it has nothing to do with this review.
