The udon noodles are chewy and smooth, with just the right amount of firmness, and they are easy to slurp down. The broth has a rich flavor and the perfect balance of saltiness, which pairs excellently with the chewy udon noodles. I really enjoyed it. I should have ordered a larger size!
The Jumbo restaurant may seem like a rip-off with its name, but it's actually really delicious! When I arrived at 10 am on a Tuesday, there were already some strong souls drinking beer. The staff were friendly and their explanations were detailed. The hot pot was served in a hot pot, and it takes some skill to pour it out. There is no tempura available, but everyone was ordering chirashi sushi. The only octopus in the oden was 150 yen, everything else was 80 yen. There is no meat available, only items like egg, kombu, and konnyaku. But the soup is the star here, it's thick and flavorful, but in a good way. Cash only.
It's okay to eat two bowls of Jumbo and leave early. Kagawa-style udon restaurant open from early morning until early afternoon. The udon noodles made in the in-house kitchen have a firm texture and are deliciously chewy with a good throat feel. The broth for dipping is fantastic and has great value for money. It's a must-have breakfast when traveling from outside the prefecture.
