The fried rice was cooked on a hot plate in front of the customers, with the staff adding beaten eggs and finishing it according to the customer's preference. However, when I watched closely, it just looked like regular scrambled eggs... It might have been better if it was mixed to a semi-soft state. When you order the kids' ramen, you will receive one toy of your choice.
I ordered the meat soba as a single item. It had plenty of meat in it and the noodles were smooth and tasty. I've had the tantanmen and spicy meat soba before, but the meat soba is definitely my favorite. I also appreciated the dust cover on top of the plate.
Marugen Ramen first landed in Futamasaka, Fukuoka, about 3 years ago. Since then, they have expanded to 7 locations in Fukuoka prefecture. It became a trend in the tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen region of Fukuoka. For me, Marugen Ramen holds a special memory. About 5 years ago, when I visited Kagawa prefecture and couldn't find any open udon shops late at night, I ended up at Marugen Ramen. It felt strange to have ramen in a udon prefecture, but the ramen was surprisingly delicious and unique, with a soy sauce-based broth and plenty of pork. It's different from Hakata ramen, with the option for extra noodles to satisfy locals. It almost feels like a Nagoya-style restaurant, but with a flavorful twist.
