The staff is beautiful and polite and they made use of every space in the room despite being a bit small.
This hotel is a great idea, it is cozy in some ways (the welcome drinks in the foyer were lovely, and the decor is great. , but unfortunately the down sides were quiet big. The hotel has obviously been newly fitted out from an old hotel and a lot has not been updated. The rooms were extremely noisy with the sounds of other patrons upstairs. We were woken every morning and night by loud thumping. The room was also extremely warm with no controlled air conditioning (only an old switch that didn't seem to do much meaning we had to open the window at night, being -5 and snowing this was frustrating. Cords were hanging out of the television when we arrived and some of the corridors signage had been pulled off the walls. The bar upstairs is very well decorated and looked cozy on the photos, but on arrival the staff were not very welcoming, it was very cold even with the fire on and it unfortunately lost it's charm because of it. The breakfast soup was interesting but half of the days we did not get any information about what we were eating. I did really want to like this place but parts of it just did not have the warmth and charm that I would have hoped it would have. With a few changes I think this place could be great.
This was the best hotel that we stayed in our trip to Japan! When we arrived, we were offered drinks and a lounge to sit on while the staff checked us in. It was a very nice and much appreciated gesture. The rooms are styled like a campfire lodge cozy feel, but quite spacious rooms. We had 2 young kids and fit comfortably on the king size bed (we pushed 2 singles together). The highlight for us (and the kids) was happy hour at the rooftop bar free drinks and a nice view. We also loved the breakfast hamper delivered to our door each morning. There is a different soup each day, along with crusty bread (which you can toast with the in room oven). Really delicious and a nice change to the Japanese cuisine outside.
So much good things to say about this little lodge like hotel. First of all, the service was excellent.. some of the staff spoke great English, and they were able to guide us on parking.. and nearby izakayas. The rooms were amazing spacious, clean and packed with useful appliances! They also have a lounge on the top floor (with an outdoor bonfire! , where they have free wine in the evening!! Breakfast was also pretty special too where everything is placed outside your room in a little basket. Only downside was our original room on the 9 floor had bad air conditioning.. and we had to switch rooms. There are no bath robes too, so do take note. With all that said, I highly recommend this place for a wonderfully unique hotel experience that's going to leave a lasting memory!
