When I finally got her attention, I ordered the French toast with bananas. Halfway through my court I saw a...ant, looked closer and realized there were about 10 in my plate. I stopped eating and showed the waitress. Without apology, she offered a replacement I rejected. When I asked about the bill, the full price was calculated. I explained that I did not want to pay for it for obvious reasons and that I would only pay for coffee. The owner came by and said I had to pay or she would call the police. A few minutes later, three women were around me (the owner, the waitress and the cook), blocked my way out and finally pushed me when I tried to move. The owner who repeats this is not your country, that is Colombia . The three women said there were never ants that I did not tell the waitress, etc. Her bad faith was shocking. I was basically the liar. I had made a picture that was good so I could show the police that I was telling the truth. The police judgement was that I had to pay because I had eaten half and offered a replacement. So I did and went, shocked by the shame of the situation. I myself work in hospitality and the last thing I wanted was to create a scandal, since unfortunately these things can happen, even in the best restaurants, and that is when the service must be best. We can of course not expect the same standards abroad, and must be more exhausting during the trip, but pay for food ants, I would only do it in San Gil where they are actually bred for food.
A lot of home base for our group while we were in Cartagena. Very affordable food and drinks, right on the street from the main square, very accommodating staff and a very cool vibe suitable for Cartagena.
When we went to this little restaurant in Getsemani, we were not sure what we would find. The gentleman in the bar seemed friendly enough, but our waitress seemed sued and not happy that we were there. But she brought us a menu and saw our order when we sat outside in the shaded courtyard. The only other couple standing up and went before we got their food, so we really questioned our choice of lunch points! But when our empanadas arrived, smoke hot fresh from the frit, we knew we had made an excellent selection! They were so delicious and tasteful (and soooo cheap! . Our waitress seemed to change her attitude a little as soon as she saw the smile on our satisfied faces.
Whilst they do serve food we've only been there for drinks which are moderately priced. The place has a nice relaxed feel about it with tables, a nice little lounge area and an outside terrace at the back of the place.Best time to go is happy hour in the evening. There are usually several cocktails on offer during happy hour at reduced prices for two.
