Our first time at what might be the best (new) Japanese restaurant in Westchester! The freshest sushi, the most amazing fried crab dumplings ever, and the Koi roll with salmon/avocado/scallop/tobiko the toro with uni caviar below. Will definitely be back! ️

I’ve been accustomed to unlimited sushi restaurants in the past but once I gave Akai a try, I can’t get over what a difference in quality I experienced. I’ve gone to Akai a number of times for dinner and lunch and I haven’t been disappointed yet. I will say the servers definitely try to upsell sushi experiences but it’s for a decent reason…the omakase offered is the way to go. I ordered takeout from Akai today and all I can say is that I was whelmed. The food wasn’t bad per say but it wasn’t incredibly good either. I tried the Katsu Don and the Akai BBQ Short Rib and both failed to incite much positive reaction in me. The Katsu Don was rather salty but other than that wasn’t incredibly bad, it was my favored of the two dishes.
