I was brought here as a birthday gift. I had heard about this place before but had never visited. It is located between Årjäng and the Norwegian border, and a bit difficult to find as it is in the middle of the countryside. You park at the backyard of a farmhouse, opposite the cow barn, and are greeted by a large, rust-colored and white cat. The restaurant is small, accommodating about twenty guests, and is run by Thorill and her husband. Due to the chilly weather, we chose to sit inside, but you can also dine in the beautiful garden. Reservations are necessary as it is a popular spot, and you must also pre-order your food. The menu is well-balanced with a good but limited selection. We all ordered different dishes, including seafood, fish, and meat, and everyone was pleased with their choices. I ordered lamb cooked rare, but it was served closer to medium. The food was well-prepared, but felt somewhat safe. Given the local reputation of this place, I wish they would be more bold in their offerings. On the positive side, the restaurant's rural setting is charming and Thorill herself is a delight.
A large hidden gem with great food. book them in advance.
This charming restaurant is nestled in the heart of the Swedish forest, offering an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The outside garden is beautifully maintained and filled with vibrant colors. The owner, a welcoming and kind woman, is a skilled cook. The dishes are creatively presented and the food is delicious, made with high-quality ingredients. Guests can enjoy a variety of traditional Swedish dishes, such as hazelnuts, paired with Italian wine. This restaurant is truly unique and special!
I love my place and we always do our best to serve our guests honest eating in a beautiful, quiet environment
