I was really impressed that the rice and noodles weren't swimming in oil—everything tasted perfectly balanced and not too salty. The sweet and sour pork was absolutely amazing! Great value for the quality, too. I'll be back and highly recommend it for some of the best Chinese food in this part of Richmond.
I ordered Combo E, which included roasted pork rice, baked almond chicken, and sweet and sour pork, along with an egg roll. The total came to $12, and it was plenty of food for two people. Everything looked, smelled, and tasted fantastic. I would definitely return, although I might skip the egg roll next time since it wasn't quite to my liking. However, at $1.50, it's quite large, so it's worth trying—if you enjoy it, it's a great deal. Ironically, I tried to call them five times after dinner just to share how much I enjoyed the meal, but unfortunately, they didn't answer. Perhaps they'll see this review! It's not a complaint, just an observation: I noticed that as the food cooled, it started to taste a bit greasy, so be sure to enjoy it while it's hot, and reheat any leftovers thoroughly.
Unlike other places that provide only noodles and bean sprouts in their chow mein lunch combos, without any meat, Hong Dynasty allows you to choose chicken or pork chow mein. The vegetables in the chop suey are cooked to perfection! This is no easy feat since the onions, broccoli, bok choy, and carrots vary in texture, but somehow they all come out crunchy yet perfectly cooked. The egg roll is also delicious. When it comes to portions, you won’t find a better deal anywhere else! The takeout lunch boxes are always stuffed to the brim, and if you manage to finish everything in one sitting, you’ll struggle to eat again for the rest of the day. You can easily get two meals out of one lunch combo with three items. The prices are incredible as well; this is the cheapest lunch combo I’ve experienced. Three items cost $5.25, tax included, while two items are just $4.20. For comparison, a three-item lunch combo at Dragon Fort costs $6.73, and Jasmine Garden's three-item combo is over $7 for much less food. I took some pictures of all the items on the lunch menu (except for the egg foo yung). Hong Dynasty is more of a take-out restaurant, although they do have two tables if you prefer to eat in. Give it a try—you won’t be disappointed!
This is what you get for $11.00 including taxes. Oh and I forgot to make a picture of the big egg rolls that are contained about 3 inches in diameter in this price. Even the food is so amazing. We live in Maple Ridge and regularly drive all the way to Abbotsford to get it. Also the staff is sooo friendly and friendly. The picture I published does not show the huge container of Almond Chicken. About 12 pieces.
BEST BEST BEST Chinese food! LARGE portions, takeout only, super cheap prices! Honestly one of the few best and cleanest tasting chinese food I have eaten. Big chunks of various Vegetables, Almond Chicken was crumchy and hot, Sweet Sour Pork was legit. Takeout box is heavy full and comes with all condiments needed!. I got the $5.99 4-item takeout. They make it to order right infront of you!! How this isnt the busiest, hottest to go to restaurant in town yet, is a benefit to the few that know about this place!!!
