I will most definitely return and recommend this restaurant to all who ask my advise. Completely satisfied with this organization.
Ricky's (used to be ABC Restaurant) is next to the Best Western hotel, close to the Clearbrook exit to the freeway. We were a party of 9 and the restaurant was packed as usual (it was also the August long weekend). Phoned for a reservation and we had the back room all to ourselves.Friendly and efficient service - although our meals took a little longer to come out, it was worth the wait. Everything we ordered was hot and delicious. The kids loved their mac and cheese and chicken strips. Variety of schnitzels and all delicious. The turkey schnitzel is my favourite.
Food was mediocre at best service worse. We ordered a burger lettuce wrapped and a tossed salad. Took over 40 mins to receive two burgers. There lettuce wrap consists of shredded lettuce with the burger inside. How are you supposed to eat that? Salad was weeds with some cranberry and seeds in it. Tastes like dirt. Server offered free dessert. Umm we don't eat that didn't you see what we ordered. Over priced and church **** on the table to boot. Never will we go back.
The restaurant is attached to the Best Western hotel but obviously attracts a much wider clientele. The place was packed, I stood by the entrance for several minutes waiting for a host and being ignored by staff passing by. When some one eventually spoke it turned out there was another entrance and that people coming in after me were already on the wait list. Having been seated eventually the menu was huge, mainly Homely type dishes. I chose the pot roast which was tasty and accompanied by nicely cooked vegetables. A safe if uninspiring choice for travellers.
This is the option to dine when you stay in the Best Western Regency Inn and you don't want to drive somewhere else, and it really is a good surprise. Somehow one expects eateries next to a hotel to be a tired, oh-no-another-tourist kind of place, but this one is not. The decorations are farm-themed, not just country, and manage to avoid being schmaltzy or kitsch. There are some skillful iron work, very decorative, and some really wonderful roosters. The menu is extensive, catering for all tastes but with some unusuals too (liver and onion??? not for me, dude). The food we had was tasty, plenty enough to satisfy, and the wine equally good. Entirely to be recommended.
