Well I have been all over this lovely country and now I was in Turriff Aberdeenshire, and at a Lovely B&B and two great Breakfast and two evening meals, I don’t know if Legion members and Veterans know about this treasure, but if you are...up anywhere near Turriff please check it out. When I arrived I was met with friendly, helpful and very pleasant staff, all the Staff in this Legion club were very helpful, professional and a joy to know, the food and service were excellent and well managed waitress, the Room and everywhere we went was spotless clean. If I happen to be back up in this area I will definitely book in to this lovely Legion club. To who has anything to do with this Legion Club, thank you. The photos were my starter and main meal I could not eat the sweet, as I was to full.
The food at the Royal British legion never fails to deliver in relation to quality and portions. We eat here as often as we can and the chef and his team really do serve up a first class plate(s) of great food full of flavour....The serving staff are always on hand with a smile and cheery word regardless of the weather, time of day or day of the week. Fantastic, keep it coming!
It was a belated Valentines surprise for my good lady. With a lot on the menu she went for Haddock, chips, and salad, whilst I went for Beef Steak pie, chips and mixed vegetables. This was followed by Banana Split with cream and Ice cream for the wife, and I had Sticky...Toffee Pudding With cream and ice cream, finishing off with Black coffee. The food was cooked to perfection, the presentation was excellent, the service was superb. The bill at the end was certainly value for money.
If you are travelling from Aberdeen to the North-East coast of Scotland or even into the Cairngorms, you will pass through Turriff, which like so many places has a bypass. If you are looking for lunch, leave the bypass and go into the town centre,...where you will find the Poppy Restaurant in the High Street. It is part of the Royal British Legion Club, opposite the Turra Coo'. You don't have to be a RBL member to enjoy a lunch, by the resident chef, Linsey Law. Trained with Norry Grierson but a local lass who returned to quieter parts. With a large input of knowledge from her mother, she produces all types of lunch for the hungry traveller, with a strong leaning towards local dishes. Excellent value for money. Cars can be parked for two hours free in the car-park adjoining Tesco, but make sure you have a Pay Display ticket.
