The Oxen Grill - Abingdon

We were warmly welcomed at the reception and directed to the restaurant. Once we found a table, the waitress kindly informed us that they were offering a special lunch menu, suggesting a hot drink while we looked over the menu. Our food arrived promptly, beautifully presented. The staff who served us were very friendly and cheerful. It was a delightful experience for both my wife and me to dine here.

The dining experience was quite pleasant, though I found it to be on the expensive side. We tried the black dishes and the lamb, both of which were of excellent quality, well-prepared, and satisfying. The food was beautifully presented and freshly cooked, which was apparent. The atmosphere was lovely, and the establishment was clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. I did notice that there could be more options on the menu, but it wasn't a major issue. If you're staying at the hotel, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Overall, it was a good experience.

We kicked things off with a fabulous glass of Prosecco, and you could choose either tea or coffee to accompany the meal. For under ten pounds per person, I would say it was a great value. The only things I would suggest changing are adding a small handful of crisps on the side of the sandwiches and serving the scones on the same plate as the cake.
