The food is excellent, and the staff is exceptional! It’s always a wonderful experience.
As for my fried chicken, it was far from impressive. I received a large portion of mashed potatoes, which were quite good, but on top sat two pieces of low-quality, frozen fried chicken that were smothered in what looked like corn chowder. It was an odd combination. To be fair, the menu did specify "fried chicken with corn gravy," but I overlooked the lack of a comma between "corn" and "gravy." Overall, it was not a standout dish. We decided to skip dessert. The service left much to be desired. We had to request a glass for our beer, and aside from one couple at the bar, we were the only patrons present. We ended up walking to the bar to settle our bill. The ambiance was non-existent; a place that could be cozy and inviting felt instead neglected. A good cleaning would go a long way. The tables were greasy, and the plastic-covered menus should be replaced, as they gave the impression of a restaurant that neglects sanitation. I really don’t understand why restaurants use these plastic covers; they always end up looking dirty after just a short time. A better approach would be to print a few hundred menus on plain paper, use them once, and discard them. This would make menu updates easier and more cost-effective, requiring only a bit of planning. AJ's may be fine for a beer and a burger, but there are certainly cleaner and better options in Adams. We won't be returning.
This is the worst place I've ever visited. The TVs were inadequate for a sports pub, and the food was awful—the water even tasted like plastic! To make matters worse, the menu only listed half of the ingredients. The space felt too small for the number of people it claims to accommodate. I will definitely not be coming back.
As we approached the end of the pathway, we spotted light green sunshades and soon came upon the sign for CJ's Pub. We settled on the terrace and ordered lunch along with a couple of beers. Although we had to wait a bit for the waitress, we were very satisfied with our grilled chicken sandwiches, fries, and Berkshire Brewing Steel Pale Ales. If we were passing this way again, we would certainly return. Sitting outside and watching other cyclists and pedestrians was a delightful experience.
