Parkdale Burger - Addis Ababa

A small group of us visited this place while in Addis for a conference and were very pleasantly surprised by the experience. Nice ambience, friendly service and good food all for a reasonable price.

I wrote a review of this place a while back and commented on some problems my family experienced. My rating was a 3, but it really couldn’t been a 2. The owner reached out to me, met with her staff to address the problems, and offered to give my fam a do over meal. It was the PERFECT response from an owner. This is the type of customer service needed in Ethiopia. I wanted to take her up on her offer, but I also wanted to be able to give an unbiased review. So, my plan was to revisit out of the blue when no one knew I was coming. My recent visit had none of the problems from the first visit. The service was fair, and the food was so-so. I ordered the cheesesteak, which was rather chewy. The person with me ordered a cheeseburger, which was just ok. Also, the sandwiches have so much bread. The restaurant should be called Parkdale Bread and Burger because the bread dominates the experience. Kudos to the owner for reaching out. I wish Parkdale the absolute best, but I probably won’t be going out of my way to eat there.

Not only were the burgers international quality and the fries crispy, one of the staff members walked us part way back to the hotel. This place would be good anywhere. Like a 50s diner. Originally the fries were not hot and we asked for others. They brought us the best fries ever after a few minutes. Very responsive.

I took my friend and his family to Parkdale as we were in a bit of a hurry and I assumed burgers wouldn't take that much time to make. Well I don't know what they were doing ,as there weren't that many customers beforehand, but they somehow managed to delay our burgers to the point that my friend and I left to do some errand. The burgers were still not there when we came back.When they finally appeared, the fries that came with them were stale and cold.But I only found that out by trying my friend's fries as my side fries were left out. The waitress offered to get them for me later but they were still in the cooker by the time we left. To be fair, the burgers were decent. But I am not sure if they are worth the price or the hassle. Be better!
