This place has been a staple for many years, but sadly, this will be my last visit to Sherlock in Addison. Sherlock was a big part of my youth. I have been through so much with them, which is why it is so heartbreaking to say goodbye.
This used to be our go-to bar before COVID hit. We would gather with large groups of friends, enjoy live music, eat, hang out, and celebrate birthdays. We have many fond memories of this place. However, we recently returned after a two-year hiatus and were disappointed to find that it has changed drastically. The service at the bar was absolutely terrible. The young bartender on Sunday evening, April 24th, seemed disinterested and made it clear that she did not want to be there. She even complained to what seemed like her manager in front of customers. The beer we ordered was flat and when my partner politely asked for a new one, she reacted with frustration instead of understanding. My partner, who is a bar owner himself and never complains, was taken aback by how rude she was. We decided not to even attempt ordering food. Sadly, we will not be returning in the future. The atmosphere was lacking, which is understandable for a Sunday, but considering the emptiness of the place, we expected better. It's worth noting that the doorman was friendly, but the rest of the staff left much to be desired. To top it off, a server came up behind me and placed a stack of glasses on our table without saying a word, nearly knocking over my drink. We were so put off by the experience that we decided to leave and head to Vidorra instead, which turned out to be a much better option in every aspect.
I went to this restaurant on a Monday for a quick meal and drinks. It was surprisingly lively for a Monday, with hip hop and rap music playing. The food was very good and the drinks were on point. I ordered a Woodford and Coke and it was delicious. There was good security at the door, so I'm sure it gets even busier as the night goes on. I left around midnight and there was already a good crowd there.
We were here many times before, but the last time was before the pandemic and lockdown. the things have changed even worse. when we arrived, the doorman was nice enough, maybe a third of the inside seats in the insert, the staff was visible, no one seemed to hurry, and yet we were sitting for about 8 minutes before a worker asked us if we wanted menus or drinks. strike one. the server did not know any local craft beer, although the menu said ask employees for the current selection. she has not offered a beer menu either. she is either untrained or does not care to do her job. strike two. we ordered beer from the menu and told our server, we would also eat. we waited more than 15 minutes, but our order never arrived, our server did not ask for our food order. After we waited for over 23 minutes without service, we decided to take our business elsewhere. you can only guess why our server wants to ignore us. our collective bet is the R word. her body language, face expressions, verbal ton, confusing ignorance, when she asked a question, the answer to any one she did not know, not find out, all join in her unfamiliarity of anyone who does not look like her. it should not be in the hospitality industry. I doubt we'll ever come back. we will no longer recommend this place.
We brought three kids here on a Saturday night. We had fish and chips, a hamburger, bangers and mash, fried pickles and potato skins and chicken wings. Every thing
