The nomad chicken breast was perfectly cooked, and the beef cheek was equally impressive—definitely a winner. Personally, I'm not a fan of star anise, so I wasn't keen on the strong flavor it brought to the beef, but it was still well-executed. For dessert, the PX prunes were simply sensational! The service throughout our meal was exceptional, just as you would hope, and the coffee was spot on. Overall, it was a fantastic experience for any food lover!
Located just a short 32-minute drive from the bustling mall, The Lane Vineyard features a contemporary cellar door and a menu that showcases an impressive array of fresh, seasonal ingredients. The 'feed me' tasting menu, priced at $80, is certainly worth every penny.
**Snacks:** **Bread:** The white rolls were delightfully warm, with a slightly oily exterior—unusual, but nothing a napkin couldn't handle. They came with whipped butter and flakes of black salt, making for a perfect start. **Hervey Bay Scallops:** These scallops were cooked to perfection—translucent and just right. They were served with a roast chicken cream that, while delicious, may have overshadowed the delicate flavor of the scallop, as did the spring onion base. **Entrées:** **Goolwa Pipis:** These large, meaty cockles were served in a hot, spicy broth. While tasty, they were extremely spicy. I normally handle heat well, but this was a bit too intense for the seafood. **Cured Ocean Trout:** This dish was flawless—complete with roe, crème fraîche, and dill oil. It was not only delicious but also visually stunning. **Mains:** **Fish of the Day:** It was snapper, and it was fantastic—YUM! Served with a dill currant salad over parsnip purée, this was another exemplary dish. The skin wasn't crispy, but the potato crisps provided some crunch, while the seasoning was spot on, making it a delight for the taste buds. **Charcoal Grilled Duck Breast:** The presentation was excellent, although the cooking was a bit uneven. It came with a caramelized yogurt that had a slightly bitter taste, perhaps indicating it was slightly overcooked. However, all other components were fantastic. With unparalleled service and atmosphere, along with some truly beautiful dishes, The Lane is a delightful destination featuring some incredibly special wines.
Enjoyed a long lunch with a gorgeous view here. The vibe was buzzy and relaxed with the right degree of sophistication. The space was well-lit by natural light flooding in through floor-to-ceiling windows. A beautiful view of the vineyard can be seen from tables next to the windows so be sure to ask for good seating when you book. We had the 'Feed Me ' option which included four entrees, two mains (a seafood and a meat) and a dessert to be shared between two for $80 per person. The highlights were the fish and the dessert which came with thin dark chocolate crackers topped with dark chocolate mousse, apricots, milk parfait and sablée. A delightful meal.
Arrived here with a bit of trepidation with the reviews saying The staff is an issue. No problems today for lunch on a Sunday. Plenty of people to serve and friendly service it was. Meal was excellent and the views are wonderful. No hesitation in recommending this place. We will return with friends
