Actually, wanted to go there on Monday but realised that the only Restaurant on this alp is closed on Tuesdays in the middle of peak season! Well, we managed to get there on Wednesday on a foggy and rather unfriendly day. Being Swiss, living near Thun, I know the wonderful view from the well placed and organised terrace already. The interior of the Restaurant is despite its fancy lounge-style touch friendly and cosy enough but somewhat out of place. We asked for the menu, which is another stylish thing that left us a bit confused, probably produced by some hip chef without much understanding of writing a clear menu. It seemed, some famous Mr. Caviezel was at his post in the kitchen. We did not choose the Hamburger for 28 CHF but went for a simple Fondue as weather outside suggested. In short, the Fondue was perfect quality. However, for 56 CHF for 2 people, you would expect that there is enough cheese in the caquelon to make 2 people saturated (we are just average eaters). In fact, it's about half a portion what is served when you order Fondue in the Valais and elsewhere for the same price. Mr. Caviezel's concept seems to be high quality food (high price), very limited choice in a fancy atmosphere. “Normalos” have a hard time to find anything reasonable at a reasonable price. I'ts probably ok if this restaurant located in St. Moritz. Tschentenalp is a small and fine skiing and hiking area and attracts families and all kinds of people, also local villagers. There is no chance to have a lunch with your family, unless you bring your very thick wallet and the kids love the fancy food without having the choice of just fries, spaghetti or some other classics for the modest budget. All in all, it’s simply the wrong business concept in the wrong location. Service was friendly and attentive. Despite Mr. Caviezel's somewhat misplaced endeavours, Tschentenalp is recommended as a fine and small jewel in beautiful surroundings.
This mountain restaurant has fantastic views! Very good place both for lunch or a coffee. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Quality of the food is very good. The place is nicely decorated and has a cozy feeling. If sunny the terrace is also nice.
Wonderful sunny terrace with a great view, lovely food and its own beer. Definitely worth grabbing lunch there if you are skiing or hiking up there!
The sole of the snowboard boots had come loose. The staff organized tape for us so we could continue to enjoy the day. Thank you very much.
Very good fine food! Lots of choice and good prices!
