Era tarde y nos trataron con amabilidad, comida casera y risas.
Aia is a traditional mountain Basque small town and the views of the surrounding mountains and rural areas are incredibly lovely. The restaurant looks nothing special from outside but the magic that comes from the kitchen is something special. The (very busy) waiter was welcoming and helpful and the food arrived at a leisurely but enjoyable pace. Well worth the wait as the local Idiazabal cheese, Gazpacho, vegetarian risotto, traditional bean, chorizo and butifarra casserole were all delicious. It was a set menu so we squeezed in our home made desserts including the local speciality of milk fried French toast and waddled off very grateful to have enjoyed such a treat.
We lunched there the daily menu and we were very happy with the food, with the service, with the cleanliness and family friendly atmosphere and crayons : It is a great place we discovered while trekking!
We had a quick lunch in this restaurant (only 10€ for the today's special). The lunch was good and quantities were more than expected. The service was very friendly and they did their very best to explain in English (we regret to not speak Spanish). Afterwards we noticed that the ordered mineral water was even for free.
