There is a choice of wonderful natural wines. We took the large five course menu. A pleasant experience. Fresh and creative plates, good on temperature, very well structured in the mouth. Tempo was excellent: we managed to occupy the place for 4 hours and the service played impeccable this long game. Wine by the glass was at the end of the lunch no problem in addition to the bottle we drank. So, these people know their way around in the hospitality business. Minor issue: we felt that some dishes were overcomplicated and assembled with too many flavours. The simpler dishes offered a wonderful insight in the talents and ability of the cook. All in all a great address. Don't hesitate to go!
A restaurant that wants to be both family and gastronomic. You're gonna have to choose because it's pretty confused. We're in a typical village. the population is not that of the cities. The kitchen is local but wanted. Too often. It is better to focus on a few good dishes rather than on 5 or 7 dishes. Why fish and meat? not very suitable for children. menu without any choice, very expensive. Anyway, it's mixed. The waitress is very useful, fortunately.
One of the finest lunches I ever had in my life. A small restaurant in a charming old village about 10 km from town Aubenas in Ardeche. Tartare de boeuf was astonishingly good; I did not know what were the secret ingredients, but it was fresh and full of harmony of flavours. The milky taste of lightly roasted veal was contraposed by a smoky (just a tiny bit smoky) sauce I would never dream that this combination could be so effective and exciting and it was served on a bed of chef's special condiment, which made the dish even richer in flavours. A bottle of excellent, fresh and bright, biological (in particular, no sulfates) wine from Ardeche region, recommended by Chef. A very pleasant ambiance: tables are under trees on a tiny village square. A gem, real gem.
