The Duck in pepper sauce and the Sole menuire were perfectly cooked, with an accompaniment of lovely vegetables. We have been visiting Le St Benoist over a very long period of time and have never been let down. Thoroughly recommended.
Four adults for lunchtime. We all had the set menu for 14€ A choice for the main course of fish or a meat dish. It has a good ambiance and the staff are attentive and friendly. Overall a nice place for lunch.
We had driven down to the Vendée and decided to stop in Aizenay for lunch, before continuing on. We found Le St Benoist as we appoached the roundabout and parked in the large car park by the old railway station. We wanted a pleasant meal, so we chose their lower price set menu. We were pleased by the buffet starter, parmentier de canard main and panna cotta desert. Will visit again.
A good day out is cycling from either Coex or La Roche sur Yon along the old railway line to Aizenay and stopping here for lunch . They have a very pretty courtyard round the back where we had an excellent set lunch, a huge plate of chicken livers followed by a hearty local sausage and rice and a home made lemon tart. The staff are friendly and welcoming and if you prefer, there are tables and a bar inside . The old station on the abandoned line is now a tourist information bureau.
Aizenay is a petit ville situated about 15 k 's approx 10miles from the beautiful Atlantic Coast line. if you want to escape the crowds, and delve a little inland to dine, then try this hotel restaurant. It has a seperate area for visiting tradespeople,, but also has a large private dining space for families, couples, friends etc. There are various priced menus plus a la carte, The 18 euro three course menu sampled was more than adequate in portion size. Friendly caring service made for an enjoyable evening here.
