The restaurant offers both tables and booths, and the service is decent. I do not expect a five-star dining experience within a 20km radius of Ajax Casino. The staff work long, late shifts and could be a bit more attentive, especially when the restaurant is busy. However, Nick provided us with excellent service in arranging our seating and accommodating my father, who has mobility issues. He was patient and pleasant to deal with. The portions are generous, and if you have a casino "Winner's Circle" card, you can save some money on your meal (to potentially lose later at the slots). Overall, it is a good night's entertainment as long as you do not overindulge in the casino.
It is so handy to be able to eat and then play for a day or evening out.The restaurant does get very busy at certain hours but some things are worth the wait. I have always enjoyed my food at Getaways. The whole idea of going to a casino is to take money and lots of patience. I enjoy the excitement and anticipation . Make it fun ...that is what it is all about.
On Saturday we went for breakfast as we have done mony times before the food was not great eggs where not cooked and toast did not toast but my real complaint is the condiments that where serviced with it cream in a picture not individual peanut butter also served in a container along with the jam these items although not terribly interesting is making my decision to not go back any time soon hope they go back to the original packageing
My group had reservations at the restaurant, and although there was a small mix-up, it was quickly resolved. The service for drinks and food was excellent, but once we started eating, the servers seemed to disappear, making it difficult to ask for additional items like more sauce or another drink. The desserts were tasty, but overall, I don't think I'll be returning since I prefer not to take chances.
Went to the Getaway Restaurant for the Lobster and Prime Rib special for my husband, who loves seafood. I personally don’t care for lobster. We went around 4PM, and they told us it was a 1-1 1/2 hour wait, which we fully expected, and didn’t mind. When we were seated the waitress approached our table and asked “two specials?”. When I replied “no”, she said “ what do you want then? I replied, “a menu”. She walked away and came back with a menu which she tossed onto the table and walked away without a word. The place was packed and we did expect a small wait, but with people lined up to the entrance of the Casino, we figured not too long. The waitress actually went on a break, and we suspect our food sat for a time before someone else finally brought it out and dropped it on the table, not even asking if was correct or not-which it wasn’t! Our food was warm, closer to cold. I had ordered a side of gravy for my mashed potatoes, which I never received-imagine my shock when the bill arrived and I was charged for it. Paying proved just as difficult as ordering, for as soon as my husband said he didn’t require the machine, she walked away and never returned. Needless to say her bad attitude and poor service and overcharging us was reflected in her tip!
