I have been here several times for quick meetings over coffee and a muffin and always found it satisfactory not outstanding if pricy as compared to noisier venues like Tim's. However, today's visit was a bust. They no longer have muffins, only large cookies and mediocre tea biscuits scones . The coffee was overly strong and almost cold. However, there were several staff behind the counter more than on any previous visits , and it did look as though a husband and wife were in evidence, whom I took to be new owners ? . If this is the case, I trust they will settle down and up their game before my next visit I will watch this site for new intelligence on this subject . Furthermore, I found that the quality did not match the fancy pricing by a long stretch.
Extremely Disappointing!! A group of three of us went here today for high tea for a Birthday, and none of us were impressed. Firstly, at Jazzberry if you would like to have high tea you have to make a reservation and then pay half the deposit. I told the owner that we would be coming at 2pm, but when we got there they thought we were coming at 3pm, so nothing was prepared when we entered. Secondly, the food was NOT GOOD. For high tea, we received tuna sandwiches, cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches on white bread, feta and spinach pastry, butter chicken pastry (in my opinion all these items could be made at home, so completely not worth it). We also received 3 scones, and 3 desserts. Two of the desserts were stale, and one of the desserts had fungus in it. Of course we told the owner, and after that we didn't feel like eating at all. She told us that they ordered the desserts on Tuesday, so she was not sure why the desserts were spoiled. In return we had to pay for 2 guests instead of 3. Thirdly, the owner dropped the tea and the table became a mess. Now, we were not upset at this because mistakes happen, but I have been to other high tea places in the past that had MUCH better service. In total you will pay $35 plus tax per person which is NOT worth it at all. Stale food, very bland and boring food for tea, not so great service and a very terrible experience. I will not be going back to Jazzberry Tea House after today, and would not recommend it.
When I found out about Jazzberry I was excited to make this a place for meeting friends and doing homework. It is cozy, warm and has a great selection of teas that really taste good. One of the owners, Natasha, is also warm, friendly, engaging and kind. She smiles and greets you like she's happy you stopped in. The other owner appears burdened at times and this seeps through in her interaction with customers. I too, (like another review) often feel like I'm burdening her or am an inconvenience. I used to go in their at least once a week and never was welcomed or greeted the way I am with Natasha. I'm not expecting red carpet but as small business owner striving to maintain a business I would expect a little more warmth. The food is fine but varies again on who's serving and at what time you come in. Nice place but has the potential to even better with a little more customer service.
I have been going to the JB for about 6 months now. The sandwiches are killer, and the tea selection is amazing. Such a cool vibe in that little spot. The music is always on point and they have free WiFi. Highly recommend the JazzBerry for lunch or a laid back afternoon.
