If you're a fan of authentic Mexican flavors, this restaurant in Shelby County serves some of the best tacos around. Their Chorizo, Borrego (Lamb), and Pollo tacos are excellent choices. The Asada and Cabeza (non-brain cow head) tacos are also tasty. I tried Cuerito for the first time here, and found it quite interesting. While the Pastor and Carnitas tacos were not as impressive, the others more than made up for it. They offer five different salsas as toppings, most of which are spicy, especially the red ones. My personal favorites were the yellowish green salsa with black flecks and the bright red salsa without any flecks. Combining the two was a delicious addition to the tacos.
My husband and I recently ordered take-out from Gordo's and had a fantastic experience. When my husband went in to place the order, he was promptly asked if he preferred to order in English or Spanish, which was greatly appreciated since he does not speak Spanish. The customer service was excellent and everyone was very polite. The food was delicious, fresh, and of high quality. I found the prices to be fair and clearly displayed. I ordered the tortas cubana with a horchata, while my husband went with the tacos. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would gladly order from Gordo's again! Thank you!
The tacos were lukewarm, the service was bad, the man in the kitchen attended us with a bad attitude, we asked for more sauces and he only gave us one, he didn't even respond or anything. No matter how good your attitude is, you can't enjoy your food and of course I wouldn't recommend them. We didn't ask for anything for free.
The service at the Homewood restaurant is very bad, especially in the bakery. It seems like one is asking for things for free.
