If you 're stuck in San Jose, wondering where to find that perfect pre-flight chill spot, look no further than Dirigo Fermentory! This microbrewery is close to the airport, and it 's worth it. We woke up in La Fortuna at the most amazing Airbnb, spent the afternoon at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens, and then had some serious time to kill before our 12:55am flight to LAX. It was hard to find a brewery that was close to the Airport and had good beers. We went to another craft brewery before this and they were out of everything. No worries, we just had an Imperial and moved on to Dirigo. We arrived and were welcomed by the owners and very nice server. It 's exactly what we were hunting for. They had local craft beer and Kombucha that is actually made on-site, good eats, and a comfortable place to hang with plenty of power outlets. The kombuchas are like sipping the essence of Costa Rica itself. Fruity, zesty, and unapologetically unique. If beer isn 't your thing, the 'booch has got you covered. Non-alcoholic booch, but still sooo good. The chicken tenders and homemade fries were exactly the tasty and SAFE meal that we needed before a red-eye flight. We like to see, eat, and drink everything, so it 'll be hard to go anywhere else now that we 've found this spot. I am a local and wanted to try their tasting Menu (for under $30, it includes three courses, one dessert and four small beer, samples, or kombucha. I can say that the Caribbean rice and beans and the meat were my favorites (super delicious!! the empanada is a good idea but not tasty enough for me (i am not a fan of chicharron and the flan didn’t taste like anything (it was supposed to be coconut but it tasted a little bit like refrigerated place is warm!! But perfect for beers! Service is good and the music was amazing!! We loved it! You can also see a nice star fruit tree at the entrance! Looking forward to taste the rest of the menu Beers: Loved the Lover and the Faro German Pils (amazing coffee Flavor kombucha: Maracuyeah and Whappin are my favs!!
Visited on our last night in CR. Chicken fingers really good and big enough for kids to share. CR buffalo burger delicious. Had a west coast IPA and NE IPA and both were tasty. Staff was very nice and the restaurant had a cool classic video game emulator that my kids discovered the brutality of Mortal Kombat on
Excellent beers and a spacious place to relax near the airport. We came for a few beers and really enjoyed the NEIPA and Saison (which is notoriously tricky to get right, but was delicious! They also have delicious beers for carry out. The owner and brewmaster is clearly passionate about good beer and the growing craft beer scene in Costa Rica. Highly recommend! We will be back and next time come for a meal, as the menu looks delicious!
Any tourist landing or taking off from SanJose airport must visit Dirigo Fermentory (about ten minutes from the airport . We went there on July 5, 2023 and simply loved the place, the owners and ... the beer (special mention to the Lover and Hunter!!! . What a great way to celebrate the end of our trip to Costa Rica. A wonderful place to have a good beer, eat delicious food, have fun with the table games at your disposal or the arcade video game, but above all... have a great evening. The staff are friendly, helpful and very welcoming. You don't want to miss Dirigo Fermentory! And if you really like their beers... you can take advantage of the Hotel Aeropuerto, adjacent to the brewery.... A little extra if you have to catch an early flight the next day!!!
