Monkey Thai South Shore - Alameda

Just a leisurely lunch with a friend. The lunch special fixed price for an appetizer salad entree and drink is my favorite . Service today was good but is spotty depending on which server you get. The food was very tasty.

It was a good atmosphere and we were quickly taken care of. The food presentation was spectacular. My girlfriend and I ordered fried chicken wonton which was super good, ordered thai fired rice which was okay, nothing special just like any other fries rice and we also got Tom Yum which was really good and had a nice spice to it. Like I said the presentation was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone, as it was overall a great experience.

Not sure how this is rated so high and why reservations are needed. We walked in for a valentines date expecting to give our names and a table would be waiting for us per reservation protocol. We were told to sit wherever we liked which was good, and we didn’t even have to give our name. The service was also average. Wasn’t bad, but seeing as it got busy later, they get a pass here. If you make a reservation here this is what to expect: average Thai food. Mediocre service. Horrible ambience TVs everywhere, wires dangling, graffitied windows, bathroom is a few minute walk around the building, so expect your company will await your return a of 5min minimum. The pricing didn’t reflect the level of food quality, but did meet expectations of an average Thai restaurant. My recommendation is neutral.

The restaurant did not provide utensils for eating. The Grilled Salmon was pricey and only consisted of two small pieces.

The spicy catfish and green curry are absolutely delicious.
