We had lunch there. The food was outstanding. Service was excellent
Food is overpriced and not well seasoned. Service was poor. We waited for 45 minutes after ordering and not an apology for why it took so long. We had to get the waiter’s attention to get a drink refill. We only tipped because we were considerate. There are far better options for good Portuguese food in East Providence. Madeira doesn’t top the list.
Went there for my Mom's 90th birthday. We were 17 People. Our waiter Tony was absolutely wonderful and deserves many kudos from the owner. He was on top of serving drinks, taking orders, and making sure that everyone in the group had everything they wanted. We couldn't have a better waiter than Tony. Thank you for making everything run smoothly. I also have to commend the chef and kitchen staff. Our meals were brought out pretty much at the same time and having 17 meals that was quite a task. All meals came out nice and hot and within a couple minutes all of us were eating. To the chef...the food was wonderful and nicely seasoned and cooked just right. The group had Bife a Casa, Espetada Madeira, Polvo, The special Chicken and Shrimp, Lombinhos, Carne Porco , and the special fish. Everyone raved about their meal being so good. Fresh bread, seasoned rice and nice roasted potatoes. Tony even had the birthday cake cut to perfect portions for all. I highly recommend this place if you want real good Portuguese food. Thank you for making this a great day for Mom.
This review had to be written so people can understand what REALLY happens at this establishment. The owner Al when you sit at the bar will not leave you alone if he knows you, constantly touching you, making moves to the girls that work at the bar, his employees or his customers, he talks to you in a mean way and doesn't care about his employees. He is constantly tapping the bottle(s) red and white wine, always drunk, obnoxious, swearing and he really is all about the money and does not care about YOU or how or what the food tastes like. His specials are ALWAYS the same such as: Mahi Mahi, Porter house steak, Pork chops, Goat cheese, same old stuff every day!! The bread is never fresh, its frozen and then used over and over, the fish isn't fresh, and the steak is bottom of the barrel. I ordered a Bife a Casa steak, (medium well) with chip fries and veggies. The steak came out WELL DONE, fries were soggy in grease and veggies looked like they were a week old. I sent it back and in return came back another steak WELL DONE full of fat, dry with a load of the chef's sauce on it, chip fries were over cooked and veggies were the same. My friend that went with me got the Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast and with roasted potatoes and veggies. Her experience was- the chicken was dry (tasted like cardboard) potatoes were hard, and the veggies were the same as mine probably a week old. How can someone treat customers who goes there all the time like this? The owner doesn't care he's all about the money. $25.95 for this steak and $18.95 for cardboard chicken? I don't mind paying for a good meal but come on i want it to my liking!! We ended up leaving here, not eating, refused to pay the bill and it was removed and went to a REAL Portuguese restaurant (O'DINIS on Warren Avenue) it was amazing and cooked to perfection. AL- myself and my family friends will never go back to your establishment, you disappointed me and my whole family, that's absolutely a BIG SHAME!
