The waitstaff treats you like they have known you for years and are extremely laid paid. The food itself is very creative, fresh, and comes in generous portions. I do feel that the devil eggs deserve an honorable mention.....you MUST TRY. As a true foodie, this small gem is to be appreciated. When visiting Albany, I will certainly be back.
Came here on a Thursday night; no wait, we sat down immediately at a high top table for 3. I didn't find the space particularly comfortable, but it was decorated pretty nicely. The space is modern, and the staff is friendly and helpful. One notable thing was that one of our drinks came without a cayenne rim and our server made a fresh one and let us keep the original very much appreciated. In general, the only real fault I have with this restaurant is the price of menu items, generally. $17 for a chicken sandwich is pretty expensive (not outrageous but still), even if it is quite good. Fried Green Tomatoes We liked these a lot crunchy, firm tomatoes with a good amount of sauce and dressing. Big hit for us. Grit Tots These were also hits. I normally don't like grits, but these were luscious, with a good amount of cheese thoroughly mixed in. The sausage gravy was excellent and went perfectly with it all. Highly recommend these. These would work well as an entree if accompanied by a fried chicken breast. Spicy Truffle Chicken Sandwich Very solid sandwich. The chicken was juicy, seasoned well, and accompanied by awesome parmesan crisps and cherry peppers. I enjoyed it very much I would order it again. Went for the shrimp and grits this time it was really good, a little bit on the tomatoy side but delicious nonetheless... I did switch out the andouille sausage for the turkey sausage. And a side of a biscuit because their biscuits are amazing seriously. Normally I get the chicken and waffles, which is also amazing but I'm glad I decided to try the shrimp and grits... Hint: asked them to take the tai off. I mean pinch it off don't let them take your shrimp tip from you,
Read great reviews, but honestly was disappointed. The presentation of food was good, but no wow factor anywhere. Just some decent food. Felt like I paid mostly for the atmosphere. The interior and ambiance were nice, clearly a newer restaurant in Albany. We called ahead but otherwise the wait was about an hr long.
I was a little taken off guard by the location. But the inside ambiance is great! A cute little southern charm. We were there for brunch. The chicken waffles were delicious! The portion was huge too! The macaroni and cheese was flavorful and creamy. We ordered the family style mimosas for $40. I wasn't a fan of the waitress over pouring the glass and just leaving a mess on the table in front of me, and wasting our alcohol. We could've just poured them ourselves. She was a little aloof. Prices felt a little steep. We spent $175 for 4 of us for brunch! That's pretty crazy in my opinion. But it was the best meal of our weekend, so I would definitely go there again.
