Did you know that grass fed beef is NOT graded by the USDA? I didn 't, and neither did the staff who cooked and served my burger at Albany Burger. I had thought for sure that the beef at an establishment now owned by Amazon.com would be Prime! BADA BING! Sorry 'bout that. Yes, Albany Burger is actually located within the Whole Foods store located at Colonie Center. For whatever reason, it has its own web page. Maybe this is an effort by Amazon.com to promote it and give it more visibility. It actually shares the food preparation counter where you can also order pizza and salads. As alluded to above, all their beef is grass fed. They have 4 Signature burgers for $8 each and a basic burger for $6 with the addition of cheese or bacon being $1 each. Looking at their prep trays, it appears you can also add lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, caramelized onions, arugula, salsa fresco, and a variety of sauces. You can also choose ground turkey or a plant-based burger they call Beyond Meat. The burger is actually made from two patties. They did ask me if I wanted them cooked medium or well. I said medium and there was actually some pink in the middle of one of them. My choice from their Signature burgers was #3, with cheddar, caramelized onions, smoked bacon, and bbq sauce. It was very good. The beef still had some moisture, the bacon was thickly cut and super crisp, the onions were nicely caramelized and moist, and the cheese fully melted. Oddly enough, the only complaint I might have is that the rolls seemed too thick. The ratio of bread to everything else seemed too heavily favored toward the roll. And an awkward situation that I ran into was that the burgers barely fit inside the paper containers that they package them in when finished. I had asked for my burger to be sliced in half and staff had a problem squeezing the wrapped burger into that container. When I opened everything up, half of the burger was sideways and partially on top of the other half. If you 're going to eat your burger while at Whole Foods, you need to pay for your burger at the normal checkout counters, where tax is added, and you can then dine at the tables in the front of the market. If you 're curious about what 's in you burger, the sticker that is placed on the package tells you everything you need to know, including all the nutritional facts.
