Another day, another Restaurant but tonight was special. I’ve always liked this part of Melbourne for that something a little unique and reminds me a lot of Europe, particularly Spain. There are three parts to this restaurant. Outside on the wide pavement are some tables and chairs and on this mild summer night, the perfect place for a wine or Aperol and watch the world go by. Inside thereis the bar inside with stools. This is where you order the ‘bar food’. There are also tables to sit at here and then outside at the rear in a small courtyard. The toilets are between the courtyard and main restaurant. This is probably more known as a wine bar with a brilliant range of local and international wines. The Sunbury Shiraz was excellent. We ordered a platter of nibbles which was $32. Consisting of four lots of cured meat, sausage and pate. Came with garlic butter and small slices of crusty bread. We were offered a little more bread at no extra cost. The pate was superb and there was s generous amount of food. The main menu for those seated at tables appeared to be a little different but with lots of good choices. Portion sizes are good. Dietaries are easily catered for. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front and in side streets. Finally and probably most importantly the staff are lovely. Very helpful and eager to please. Would’ve taken more photos but it just seemed inappropriate as it was so busy. But hey Lina’s invite me back and I’ll snap away. I will return.
A little bit of Paris! Love Lina’s. Excellent wines by the glass. A bargain if you head in for happy hour between 5 and 6.30. But never assume your timepiece is in sinc with Lina’s. lol. This is the place for coq au vin or baked camembert and warm crusty baguette. Sit back, listen to some jazz and breathe.
Lina's hosted a university reunion dinner very recently (27 May 2018) for a large group of us. The service was very courteous (we had our own dedicated waitress who was very attentive and professional), we had a nice warm room, but above all, the meals were magnificent! I had a eye fillet steak which was cooked medium rare and it was prepared exquisitely to perfection, with a rich, peppery and flavoursome sauce. Simple, elegant and perfect. The other accompanying dishes were very well prepared as well.<br/ <br/ There was a modest but carefully chosen wine list, from which I enjoyed a very nice Pinot Noir and a local Shiraz. <br/ <br/ We really enjoyed the service, the atmosphere and the meal. I will be back again!
Tonight unplanned date night. Husband calls Linas to book a table we are told if we could come in half an hr then that would be alright. So of course we believe its full and we might be turned back. But we get there and it is empty except for a couple in the back and a gentleman at the bar. We go in, and say we called the lovely waiter Lachlan says 'we are waiting for you '...So then we realize it is public holiday it is not busy so they waited for us! Wow we are speechless. We order the the cured kingfish, chicken parfait and it is absolutely amazing. The fish has this deep beautiful cured taste and a hint of vodka parfait not strong not livery just like beautiful butter. I didnt need bread it was deliciousMains were duck and beef bourguognon ... oohhh myy my husband loved the duck but the beef was out of this world the spices the meat just cooked to perfection... what a beautiful place... lovely people who basically just had the place opened for us. Date night great friendly staff great food Definitely going again and so looking forward to it... btw did i say that the dessert was yumm yeaas it was creme brulee
