The melon & ham and gazpacho soup were good but the mozzarella was mostly gelatinous mess with only the centre tasting like it should. On the plus side the green and yellow tomatoes were really delicious. It took an increasingly longer time to get the eye of the severs and took 3 goes to get our local wine served after being ordered well before the starters. The restaurant was getting really busy but I could see that other diners were being ignored in favour of new customers. Then came 2 dishes of beef and one of lamb. All 3 were almost 100% sinew. That would have been acceptable if the kitchen had bothered to batter the sinew into submission to tenderise it sufficiently. However it was not and all 3 pieces of meat were inedible. Then the profiteroles and cheese came which were good and having given up on getting a bill, I went to the front desk and paid.Overall the food was touristique but the meat quality put it into the poor category.
Mother and Son opened up early, just because we were standing at the door. They had not finished eating themselves. Menu was more than ok!
Nice location and the food was good, but the impatience of the server was disappointing. Wven when you can speak French, menus are difficult. Pieds de cochon can be what it says, but it can also be a mushroom. Thus, we try to have a little help. It was not forthcoming.
We had the three course special of the day for only 15 euros and where totally blown away by the quality and freshness. What are you waiting for? This is it...
Went on a Saturday evening with local friends. They had never been either. Chose the €18 menu and we're all disappointed. The entrée was OK - Déclinaison des tomates - basically a crustless type of quiche/pie with goat cheese. We all opted for the mystery beef. 2 à point & 2 saignant One was à point one medium rare and 2 verging on blue. The hostess graciously offered to cook a bit more but they didn't get to medium rare. And the meat was on the verge of inedible - tough with lots of nerve strands. Desert we chose was a crème brûlée - an interesting fusion of banana & lime. The lime dominated and the custard was liquid- perhaps an unfortunate effect of the lime juice? And the burnt sugar crust was cold, meaning it had been done some time ago not to order. Maybe your experience will be better but we all agreed that we would never go back. Albi has better to offer.
