The Flats Cafe - ALBION

Flats is a hidden gem in Mendocino. This charming campground diner is not only clean and beautifully decorated, but it also boasts incredible cuisine and the delightful charm and wit of Dominic, the owner. I tried the Albion omelette, and it was light, fluffy, and cooked to perfection, filled with caramelized onions, sautéed spinach, bacon, and cream cheese. It might just be the best omelette I’ve ever had! My sister-in-law ordered the fish and chips, and Dominic assured her it was made with beautiful local cod, which she wholeheartedly agreed with. If you ever find yourself in the area, be sure not to miss dining at Flats!

I ordered the Bumbleberry crepes without cream cheese, and they kindly offered to substitute fresh strawberries instead. My 12-year-old would have licked the plate clean if I had let her! I tried the First Mate dish—two eggs over easy (though they were a bit undercooked for my taste), bacon (since they had run out of ham), along with some delicious flat potatoes and sourdough toast paired with fantastic Bumbleberry jam. The service was great, and the location is really enjoyable.

The atmosphere was extraordinary, and the service was incredibly friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family. The prices were affordable, and the portions were generous. Well done!
