Large and uncovered square in albuquerque. they will not be disappointed!
Apparently covid took his toll. at a time I considered this as one of the top restaurants in the city. we came with a party of six for an important birthday dinner on Thursday I had tried to add three more people in the last minute, but they said it could not be done. much to our surprise we were the only party there all night (we were at 8:00). the reason why we couldn't add to anyone is that they didn't have the staff available to serve only our original six, as we were the only ones (I think the word is already out). the whole evening was rescued by a lovely waiter, kenni. she was also the hostess, the bartender, the server and even cleaned up some broken sorbet glasses that fell while serving. the prices for the various meal times were expected, high end (lobster, filets, porterhouse and lachs), but the overall quality was low and most of the foods were served room temperature. they explained that the food warmer was broken and they had no replacement. they removed the porterhouse from the bill, they still gave us (the dog gardens are managed). the clawed cheesecakes were the unforgettable standout of the evening, along with the attentive and delightful service of kenni (which informed us that it was last night). dennis, the chef also prepared some beautiful cherry jubilee and bananas foster on the table side and apologised for the other elends in the evening. overall, how sad, because the crown room was a wonderful curse for us in the past from other restaurants in albuquerque.
Elegant eating experience, eating was great! a little expensive.
You have to go through the casino to get to the restaurant which means you have to get carded to enter the building. It felt a little institutional. The Wine list was OK, but no vintages listed, staff not able to make specific pairing recommendations. The wines by the glass were (as mentioned in prev reviews) not abundant and not great quality. The staff was very attentive and sweet and definitely were trying to make it an excellent experience. Bread was brought immediately to our table and was quite good. We ordered the chateaubriand and it was cooked perfectly. It was listed for two but it was brought out on one plate and we were given an extra plate to divide it ourselves...I found that odd...I expected it to be carved tableside as I have had in other restaurants. Would have liked to tried the flambeed desserts...they sounded delicious. Glad we tried it, doubt we will go back.
