Loved having brunch here with my friends!! It was a beautiful day to sit on the patio. Our food was bomb. I had Katie's eggs with both red and green chili and there was so much flavor in every bite. I highly recommend the mimosa bucket. We got to try the orange, grapefruit, pomegranate, and prickly pear juices. Staff was very sweet and attentive as well.
Honestly, I had really high hopes. My wife and I love SixtySix Acres so we were excited to try Slate Street. Problem was, the food was really, really, really bland!! My southern chicken was slathered in a flavorless gravy that had the texture of cornstarch added to water and not much flavor beyond that. The chicken itself was cooked well but was, my to my chagrin, even less flavorful. The mashed potatoes and green beans were good but the whole thing was not worth it. I would have been unhappy if it were but it was Andy my wife's ramen had flavor but nearly half the bowl was bamboo shoots! It just wasn't worth it either I do not expect to return nor would I recommend it to anyone. I hope Sixty Six Acres stays good but Slate Street was NOT
I like Slate Street, but they sat me upstairs for Valentineâs Day. There were bright spot lights and it get like I was sitting in a coffee shop. Very slow service, nice waitstaff though.
My partner absolutely loved her Fillet Mignon, and that would probably be the best bet if you're a carnivore/omnivore. Me, I tried the Bison ribeye, which though it was billed as quite lean, was quite fatty on its edge, and annoyingly that fact was hidden by the very heavy, overly sweet dark glaze slathered over it. It was serviceable but a bit of a disappointment, especially since the only other meats were the abovementioned Fillet and some chicken. Beef ribeye experiences at this restaurant in the past were much better and I'd encourage the kitchen to go back to beef when it comes to ribeyes. As always the restaurant had a great wine list, and has a nice number of half bottles (such as our appetizer Cava) and other bottles on sale. I know of only a handful of places that have both Ridge and Turley Zinfandels on their list like Slate does, though I chose a glass of the Seghesio Angela's Table, which was an excellent choice. Service was excellent and the bruschetta, as always, is a good way to start and share a meal.
