Birallee Tavern - Albury-Wodonga

We used to go to the Birallee tavern at least once a month with the family, but since January, we have stopped going. We're unsure if they've gotten a new chef or what but the food has seriously gone down hill. The second to last time we went, we brought our friends from Sydney. We ordered 12 oysters kilpatrick, which we send back as they tasted like the had been sitting out on the bench for quite awhile and we're basically awful. Then my friends ordered the pork belly which was SO dry and I ordered the San choy bow which I couldn't even finish. I don't know what's going on there but it's just a joke now when we mention going to the Birra.

We had dinner here at short notice a couple of nights ago - not too many good places open on Sunday night, but Birra was busy, and staff were busy yet they really looked after us, our meals for us 4, didn't take too long and all were v good. They have a Seniors Prices options too, attractively priced if you qualify! We just liked the friendliness of the restaurant, to relax in and chat together, enjoying our piping hot meal..

Dined at the Birallee for the 1st time in 1-2 years. Was busy but no queue to order. Meals were good however the cardinal sin of dining, not all meals on a table of 4 delivered within the same time frame, needs to be worked on. This meant we waited and let our meals cool while our friends places were empty. My salt and pepper squid was very well cooked but the chips alas were soggy. Most menu items are pretty standard pub fare.

The steaks are the way you want them to be, soft and juicy., and I was fortunate enough to be there on steak night. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

We have been coming here for the past 8 weeks for Thursday steak night. Haven't been disappointed yet. Steaks always perfectly cooked and service is prompt.
