Table classique. Bon service. Plats maîtrises. Décor classique. La directrice connaît bien son métier. Plats classiques français. Très bon rapport qualité prix. Je recommande !!

We enjoyed a superb leisurely lunch (the service wasn't slow: this is just the sort of restaurant that makes you want to linger) in gracious surroundings. We were attentively but unobtrusively served by the lady of the house, who speaks reasonable English and is happy to use it when visitors need it.We selected the "Tradition et Plaisir" menu at 33 Euros for 4 courses - there is also a cheaper menu at lunchtime and a children's menu. Excellent value and every dish was a delight: Foie gras for madame and scallop salad for myself, followed by a cassolette of monkfish and a lamb brochette, both with excellent sauces. The cheese trolley had an excellent range and we finished with a very light waffle with passionfruit cream sauce and a lacy/crunchy orange and chocolate dessert.Worth making a detour to Alençon - an interesting town in its own right - just to eat at Au Petit Vatel.

Restaurant choisi un peu au hasard car n'etant pas de la région et pas de "tripadvisor" avec nous ... Tout ce que nous avons mangé était de qualité avec notamment les coquilles saint jacques et en dessert le superbe chariot de glaces.La salle est un peu vieillote mais propre et lumineuse. Le service du maitre d'hotel sérieux mais vraiment pas chaleureux contrairement à ce que nous supposons etre la patronne qui elle au contraire semble etre vraiment gentille et accueillante.Bon rapport qulité/prixA conseiller pour qui visite cette belle ville d'Alençon
