Atwood's Bakery - Alexandria

This is my favorite place to go to in Alexandria for breakfast/brunch. I have tried most of the menu items and I have yet to find one that I didn't enjoy. The eggs Benedict are amazing, and so is the Belgian waffle. The Ruben at lunch time is my favorite. I tell everyone I know that lives in the area to visit. The bakery is also axing and full of delicious cakes, pies, and cookies. 8 have to bring cookies from here for friends that live out of state when I travel to see them.

The breakfast was excellent. Grits, eggs and sausage were soooooo good, but only order the short stack pancakes, I ordered the full stack and I couldn't even finish one and I live for pancakes…lol

LOVE this place! Their Cream Cheese King Cakes are awesome — so soft, flavorful and delicious. They have SO MANY options to choose from. From cookies, miniature pies, to cupcakes and everything else sweet you can think of! Their service and willingness to help is outstanding.

Had the Mouffalata (sp? Delicious. So many desserts to choose from as well. I had the fruit tartlets, frosted sugar cookie and a lemon square. It's a must visit spot whenever we're in town.

Just not my taste. Sausage gravy was runny. And when I was ordering I asked what kind of sausage it was she said the short fat links, no it was just large breakfast links, not what I was looking for. But the biscuits were awesome, super soft and fluffy in the middle with a perfect crusty outside.
