Augie's Mussel House And Beer Garden

Went there twice on our short trip to Alexandria because we loved our first experience so much. While the second time we were seated in a street tent and the service seemed to be a bit negligent (they forgot to bring a side, although the server was genuinely apologetic for this matter), we absolutely loved the place. The mussels and their namesake platter are both to die for. Try rosé mussels! If you can, get into their heated patio. If there?s a wait, it?s worth the wait.

Awesome selection of mussels (classic and unique styles), nice draft/cocktails/wine menu, attentive service, and wonderful outdoor patio. We came with friends to enjoy a dinner on their heated, outdoor patio. It was about low 40s and they had multiple overhead heaters on; we all had hats and thick jackets and were generally warm, though I highly recommend bringing a blanket or dressing very warmly if it?s anything below 50. I really wanted to like this place because their lovely patio is a gem among outdoor dining choices in Old Town . But it was just ok. The frites that came with the mussels were not fresh, but rather cold and dried out, which was disappointing since they are an equal star of their signature dish. The sauce on veggie pasta was watery.

Love the beer garden patio! It was just the perfect setting on a warm (but not too hot) summer day. The beer selection is great I'm a big fan of IPAs and they have several that I hadn't had before. Our waitress was excellent friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and attentive without being overbearing. My brother in law really enjoyed the Thai mussels he ordered and said he'd gladly return for more in the future. Just a great overall experience that left us all with a smile!

Was seated close to the bar b/c party of 1. It was not a good spot for a person who cherishes quiet. Food was good.
